Brash 'N' Bold

I am obsessed with Swedish bloggers. They're so much bolder than us Melbournian's who always revert to simple black looks. And yes, I know that I am being a bit of a hypocrit right now because I am one of these so called 'dark' people. I wouldn't even dare trying running around Melbourne in this nude jumpsuit by Erin Wasson but, a Swedish fashionista sure would.

Low Cut

I was honestly a bit confused about the cut of these Alexander Wang shoes the first time that I saw them - probably because I hadn't seen them actually on someone's feet. Although now, I'm just slightly obsessed and currently daydreaming about wearing them and that black Weekday dress below...

All In A Weekday

Well, the swedish bloggers have me hooked. I never realised how amazing the stock at Weekday was until I logged onto their website and had a proper look. All the stores look incredible. Someone please bring Weekday to Australia, STAT.

Street Stylin'

Was extremely excited to see this girl rocking that YSL tote bag I originally posted when I started my blog. It's so simple and classic. Also really becoming quite the fan of hats like this at the moment... anyone know where I can get a good little black one?

...necklace, ring or cuff? I don't think this picture does that necklace all that much justice. It looks a lot better in real life. The red is deeper and less of a tangerine colour.

...literally. I'm still flirting with the idea of red hair but I just can't find the courage to do it. I really do like red hair and tortoise shell sunglasses though. I'm completely and utterly addicted to this woman's style. She never ceases to amaze me.

Bring Me The Sun

This morning I discovered you can now pre-order some of the pieces from Josh Goot's 'Goot' label on My Catwalk. I'm still being eaten alive by the colour bug at the moment. This t-shirt dress, black leather sandals, messy beach hair, a shitload of jewelry...sweet.baby.jesus. Just the thought of summer excites me. I'm already thinking about festivals, beach holidays and yep... new years eve. Time to step back, chill out and realise it's only August!

Editorial Bliss

Whilst it's almost impossible not to love the creativity behind the big budget editorials produced by Vogue, it's equally as nice to see editorials which are, what i'd probably call, down styled. This month, Dazed & Confused adapted this style approach and produced a number of shoots which focused on key looks from the biggest labels. The clothes, worn by top models, in a casual street environment help to illustrate the wearability of the clothing off the catwalk. I really love the third photo, maybe because they just look like a match made in heaven or, because I couldn't think of anything better than being wrapped up in a wooly cardigan like that right now.

Getting so excited for the weather to warm up! I am slowly getting over having to wear tights under every dress and closed in shoes to keep my toes extra warm.

Floral Heat

I saw a girl wearing this Acne floral shirt in the city yesterday. She was wearing it with black jeans, a leather jacket (one which resembled one like that of a Rick Owen's), black skinny jeans and heavily beaten up ankle length boots. Sounds pretty good huh? Yep. And it looked just that. A really good tran-seasonal piece.

Highly Ambitious

This outfit is probably a bit too ambitious but I really fancy the idea of wearing this Jeremy Laing dress with this 3.1 Phillip Lim leather jacket. I honestly spent about an hour contemplating what kind of shoes I'd want to wear with this when I should really be doing some work for Uni. There are that many good shoes out there at the moment it's ridiculous. Whilst on my break at work today I was walking down Chapel Street and counted about five pairs that I'd love to see on my feet in one store window alone. Anyway, I turned back to the old faithful Jil Sander desert boot. These shoes are hard to beat and the suede is a good partner for that leather jacket. I'm really into the mix of browns and green's... two colour's which I would never have thought of really wearing together until I saw this dress.

Looking at these photo's it really is hard to believe that Kate Moss is 36 years old. She doesn't look much older than a lot of the most sought after models in 2010.

P.S I Love You

Alexa favors Mulberry and Freja favors Wang but who favours Schouler? If I was going to splurge on any bag, this would most definitely be it. I know I've posted this bag at some point before but I'm probably going to post it a hundred times over. Most likely, this will occur everytime they release a new colour. The black version is obviously more practical but I'm really attracted to this citrus-like colour. Whilst posting this I can't really think of any celebrities, models or anyone in such a social category wearing this bag! If you can, please link in the comments!

Functional Fashion

Earlier this week I was struck down with the common cold and since then my body temperature has been painfully erratic. Sitting outdoors at my Uni's cafe is like sitting out in the middle of Antarctica. Today whilst getting heffed up on caffeine in such an environment, I eyed this Preen jacket on the Forward website and in that moment, I felt just that little bit warmer. With a detectable fur collar, this jacket is practically two jacket's in one. So, when you get sick of the fur, that's if you possible ever could, you can take the collar off. Or, if fur goes out of fashion which, is definitely likely, and later comes back on trend, you can wear it without the fur when it's out and with the fur when it's in. Functional fashion has never been so appealing!

Bring It To Life

This is a short film adaption of Hanne Gaby Odiele's recent photo shoot for Esteban Cortazar’s first collaboration with retailer Exito. I really like the way that designers are more frequently using film to bring their clothes to life. It enhances and demonstrates the wearability of the clothing. I've always found Hanne really peculiar. She has this youthful tom-boy quality about her which is far from typical. It's hard to believe that this now top rated model whom strides down the catwalks at the biggest shows at international fashion weeks across the globe was hit by a car resulting in broken shoulder's and knee's. True fact!

Feet First

I had been holding out on desert boots for so long that when I saw that Windsor Smith had a 'nothing over $100' sale I couldn't help but finally give in and purchase a pair. I only got these on Thursday and I'm already addicted to wearing them with socks every chance I get.

Christine McKeown

A few days ago I discovered this Australian artist turned designer, Christine McKeown, whilst walking past Portobello Lane on Chapel Street. I know I've been posting a lot of jewlery lately but, I feel like their is some kind of jewelry or, more broadly, an accesories revival going on in the fashion world at the moment. Portobello Lane is probably my favourite jewelry boutique in Melbourne and when you see designers like this filling the window display cabinets, it's hard not to be dragged in the stores doors. McKeown's rings, particularly those featured here, do have an art deco like quality. Although, some of her other designs are made of sterling silver and really beautiful multi-coloured stones. McKeown currently doesn't have an online store although you can view more of her pieces on the Portobello Lane website - www.portobellolane.com - or in store.
